Hanover, PA—PubFactory was acquired by Sheridan in 2017, bringing to Sheridan’s extensive scholarly journal publishing services the addition of a nimble and dynamic hosting platform. Sheridan PubFactory’s customer base has more than doubled since the acquisition, and 2019 saw many important achievements for the business unit.
Six prominent publishers launched their content on the PubFactory platform in 2019, including American Society for Horticultural Science, Harborside, Human Kinetics, American Society of Nephrology, Akadémiai Kiadó, and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.
Whether building a single flagship journal platform or hosting a full complement of journal, book, and mixed media content, the PubFactory platform delivers on a wide range of publisher needs.
Why PubFactory?
In many instances, the critical deciding factor in choosing PubFactory was the comprehensive end-to-end service Sheridan affords its scholarly publishers ― providing the highest quality composition and editorial services, technology-based workflows, and industry-recognized print and publishing quality in addition to online hosting. That, coupled with Sheridan’s consistent and widely lauded customer service, made the decision to go with Sheridan PubFactory an easy one for these publishers.
“Moving our hosting to PubFactory provides Harborside with three benefits that no other online platform host in the market can: an extension of our valued relationship with our content services provider; the highest quality, high-touch support; and an exciting mechanism for growth in the form of the platform’s SiteGen site launch module.”
― Conor Lynch, Executive Vice President and a Principal at Harborside
“We’ve made the strategic decision to bring our journals and video content together on the PubFactory platform. We’re excited to take full advantage of PubFactory’s SiteGen site launch module and all that the platform has to offer while also deepening our existing relationship with Sheridan, a long-term partner for Human Kinetics. Both Sheridan PubFactory’s technologies and consultative support will allow us to increase the value and impact of our content in new ways.”
― Skip Maier, CEO of Human Kinetics
A commitment to learning and relationship-building
In 2019, Sheridan PubFactory also hosted its largest annual user group event, Sheridan PubForum, in Washington, D.C., for its clients and prospective customers. The well-attended event featured presentations and discussions on a number of diverse and timely topics, such as compliance with NISO initiatives, Open Access, Open Science, and Open Peer Review. Speaker panels with new customers offered a uniquely transparent view into their own platform experiences through case study presentations as well as shared experiences and best practices that benefitted all who were in attendance. The sessions also included a look ahead with roadmap presentations that highlighted upcoming enhancements to the platform. The networking opportunities among publishers, the Sheridan PubFactory team, and partner companies make it a great event for publishers to stay connected to the market.
In addition to the annual user group meeting, regularly held webinars on a variety of topics offer ongoing opportunities for publishers to stay connected and informed about the industry, the platform, and the growing network of Sheridan PubFactory clients.
