Estimates are that 8% of all mail is undeliverable due to incorrect addresses (approximately 40 million individuals and businesses move each year). In an effort to insure that mail reaches its intended recipients, the USPS requires mailers who claim presorted or automation prices for First-Class Mail or Standard Mail to demonstrate that they have updated their mailing list within 95 days before the mailing date.
NCOA stands for National Change of Address. The NCOA software takes the information provided on change of address forms that are submitted to the post office, and automatically updates mailing lists, while at the same time eliminating duplicate addresses.
Sheridan, like many printers who do in-house mailing, has a license which enables us to process mailing lists through the USPS’s NCOA software. If a mailer is required to update their list prior to mailing, and they have not updated it themselves, then Sheridan will use our software to apply the updated address information, which should help minimize mailing to duplicate or incorrect addresses.
We appreciate that you are in print!
