Sheridan Confidential: Success Stories from our Employees – Part 2

by Sheridan

Part 2 in our series is Andy Birenbaum’s success story, from Sheridan Random Lake.  Read on…

Andy Birenbaum is the Director of Client Services at Sheridan Random Lake in Wisconsin. His responsibilities are many and varied at this level, managing the Customer Service, Estimating, Scheduling, and Prepress Departments. But when Andy started with the company back in 1994, he joined as an apprentice in the Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Program with Random Lake High School and Milwaukee Area Technical College. After his apprenticeship, Andy was a Scanner/Color Corrector, a Prepress Operator, an Estimator, then the Estimating Manager.

How did that trajectory come about? Andy credits a general manager back in those days who saw potential in Andy and strongly encouraged him to set his sights on management.

“I love the people I work with and the constant challenges our team faces each day. We have always been known for excellent customer service and everyone here strives to maintain that standard. Sheridan Random Lake is like one big family.”

When describing what makes Sheridan a world-class company, Andy says, “It’s the ownership and management of CJK Group and Sheridan. There’s no attitude of superiority at any level of this company. Everyone shares a common goal of working together to produce quality print. It has been very refreshing working for Sheridan.”

Andy shares some solid advice to current and future Sheridan employees: “Take every opportunity you can to learn something new. If another department needs a back-up person, volunteer. Never take credit for something you didn’t do but always make sure you get credit for the things you do.”
