The Sheridan Group Introduces Custom Publishing Direct™ at the 30th Annual SSP Meeting | The Sheridan Group

Sunday, June 1, 2008

Hunt Valley, MD – The Sheridan Group launched a new service at the 30th annual meeting of the Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), in Boston, MA, on May 28th, 2008.

Sheridan Custom Publishing Direct™ is an evolutionary content delivery service whereby publishers offer their readership the ability to create custom journal publications by selecting articles from an online repository of publisher content. These selected articles can then be arranged to suit the reader’s need. A sophisticated e-commerce system allows the reader to order print copies or a secure electronic version of their article or custom journal.

Sheridan Custom Publishing Direct™ allows publishers to leverage the value of their content by extending the life of previously published articles. Custom article collections provide additional revenue for publishers by re-packaging and reusing stored and tagged articles. Publishers may also choose to create their own custom compilations to offer their readers, thereby actively marketing popular topical content.

Sheridan believes that its Custom Publishing Direct™ solution is poised to help publishers respond to the growing movement toward article-based content distribution.

The Sheridan Group, located in Hunt Valley, MD, is comprised of twelve printing companies; six based in the United States, five in Europe, and one in Asia. Each company has a market specialty – scholarly journals, magazines, catalogs, or books. The Sheridan Group is a leading provider of a full range of printing and publishing services to publishers, associations and university presses.
